Chairperson and Director of Policy Development

Abiola Hamid is a communication consultant and youth expert, specializing in youth policies and development practices. He was the Public Relations Officer of the National Youth Council of Nigeria; Pioneer member of the African University on Youth & Development which was a model University for the advancement of Euro-Africa Youth Cooperation in the framework of youth, a project of the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe and the African Union. He has represented Nigeria at several international fora among which are the World Youth Conference, Mexico 2010, the Youth focal person in the EU-Africa Strategic Partnership, Global Forum on Youth Policies, Programme for African Leadership (PfAL) among others. Abiola was member of the Presidential Committee (youth) on Vision 20:20 in Nigeria and founder of Forum for Youth Policy and Development (FYPOD). He worked as media consultant at the Lagos State House of Assembly and holds a degree in Communication and Language Arts from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

Margaret Agyeman is a youth development expert and an agribusiness and climate adaptation expert with 17years experience in the field of agriculture operations. She has both Bsc and Mphil from the University of Ghana in Crop Science and has a certificate in Project Management. She been involved in several youth development projects and programs in Ghana since 2001.She is the founder and Executive Director of a youth led organization in Ghana, named AG Davis Youth Development Network with the vision of equipping the youth to make positive impact and contributions in their communities through different national development sectors like, agriculture, education, environment and Health. Through her organization she has impacted over thousands of youth in various communities in Ghana. She also owned an agriculture Consultancy Firm in Ghana and has given a lot of opportunities to youth in agriculture in Ghana. Equally has consulted for several national and international organizations in the agriculture sector including GCAP (under the Ghana Peri-urban Vegetables Value Chain Project), USAID-Winrock International Farmer2farmer Program, Farrelly & Mitchell, UK, etc. Currently pursuing her PhD in the University of Ghana researching in the impact of climate change on cashew (Ancardium Occidentale L) productivity and assessment of adaptation strategies in the Bono East region of Ghana. She is a MASHAV Fellow 2018, Mentor for Commonwealth Women’s Mentorship Scheme 2017, an initiative specifically for female youth and also young African Leadership Initiative (YALI-RLC) Fellow 2015She has been involved in youth policy programs both national and international.

Nelly Omwando is an independent consultant with a specific focus on Sustainable Development, Humanitarian aid, Advocacy, Peace and conflict, Gender and Global Health. She is also the Co-founder of Leaders for Action and Development in Africa (LADA), a registered non-profit organization based in Kenya that harnesses the potential of youth to contribute to development across Africa. She leads teams advising on strategic planning, capacity building, project management, and advocacy, with a particular focus in Africa. She brings more than 10 years of experience in consulting, including managing projects in the field of SRHR, Youth Empowerment, Peace and Conflict resolution, and developing methodologies integrating social, economic and environmental impact assessment and mitigation into the management of projects that align with her areas of focus. In her scope of work, she has served as an Assistant Chairperson at UNFPA Youth Advisory Panel. The youth panel was established to advise UNFPA on best ways to recognize and promote youth rights and needs within policies and programmes in Kenya. Nelly holds a Bachelor’s degree in Diplomacy and International Relations from the University of Nairobi.

Dumisa Kaponda-Mwenitete is the Managing Partner for Mwen & Associates a Malawian consulting firm that provides innovative and diverse capacity building services in organizational development and Agri-Business to profit and non-profit making institutions. She is also the Co-founder of Action for Sustainable Development a non-profit making organization that aims to improve the livelihoods of disadvantaged groups through equipping them with knowledge and skills that are essential in making informed decisions regarding issues that affect their daily lives at community level. She has vast experience in Project Management, leading change, Policy Design and Analysis, and has excellent skills in training/workshop facilitation. Through her work, she has supported youth organizations with Standard Operating Procedures frameworks in a bid to promote good governance in line with applicable policy expectations, empowered young women through skills and knowledge development, lobbied for youth inclusion development programs. She brings more than 10 years of experience in consulting and social work where she has led various interventions in promotion of Sustainable Development Goals towards achieving sustainable development. She has represented Malawian Youths at International Platforms including United Nations. Dumisa holds a Bachelors' Degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Malawi and is pursuing a Master of Science Degree in Management majoring in Project Management with Malawi Institute of Management.

Shikamo Eliack is a former Programs officer and later an Executive Director at Youth Alliance for development, a delegate at Alternative mining indaba in Cape Town (February, 20217), a delegate at the ICPD25 in Nairobi Kenya (November, 2019). While assuming these positions he worked on different projects and assignments. A pioneer of the Community monitors project in Zambia. He is a former provincial chairperson of National Youth Network on Population and Development (NYPD) in North Western province of Zambia. A former Board Treasurer of Youth Alliance for Development (YAD); an organization which has been recognized as the lead organisation on HIV/AIDS and sexual reproductive health behavioral change communication programing in North Western Zambia. Former delegate at the district and provincial constitution review conference of the current Zambian constitution. Mr. Shikamo has worked at different levels of the government health institutions. He is currently a District health promotion Officer of Kalumbila District health office in North Western Zambia. He is a vibrant and committed person towards youth work and holds Diploma in Registered Nursing from the Lusaka school of Nursing of Zambia

Dr. Sidi Mohamed Dhaker is the Senior Advisor to the Governor of the Central Bank of Mauritania and Associate Professor of Management at the University of Nouakchott and the National School of Administration with specialty in Africa's development, youth leadership, and entrepreneurship. He was the former Chief of Staff to the Governor, Director of Communications and Director of Strategy of the Central Bank. He was also Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at World Vision International in West Africa and has worked as a consultant for several international organizations in Europe and Africa. International speaker, Sidi Mohamed is board member of Africa Fintech Forum (AFF), A new Round-table on African Debts (A new ROAD), and Maghreb Economic Forum (MEF). He was awarded the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders (2015), Atlantic Emerging Leader (2017), Special Award Francophone Young Leader (2018), and French-African Young Leader (2019), and the Transformer's Award (2020). He was also part of Choiseul 100 Africa ranking (2019 to 2021). He holds various Master's degrees in management science (University of Versailles), strategic management (HEC Paris), economics and international development (University of Paris XII), and international management (Georgetown University) and completed a doctoral program in strategy and management. He earned also several executive certificates in Public Policy (Georgia State University) and Fintech and innovation (University of Cambridge)

William Katende holds a post graduate qualification in renewable energy systems from Husk University India and Aalto University Finland, BSc. Education from Makerere University Kampala, Uganda, Diploma Education from Kyambogo University. He has worked with Network Association of Youth Organizations in Uganda as Executive Director and implemented a Tackling Poverty Together project (TPT) with United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, New York, (UNDESA). He worked with World Vision International, with Department of Labor USA (DOL) project on the role of teachers in combating HIV/AIDS at the work place Mawokota North, as a Project Coordinator. He worked with UNFPA, on the Project, “Youth Participation on National Planning and Budgets” as a lead Consultant. William coordinated and implemented, a world bank funded project on gasification systems, with Center for renewable energy and energy conservation (CREEC) Makerere University College of Engineering, power plants were installation through his mandate to relevant areas in Uganda using biomass specifically maize cobs to generate electricity among the communities. William worked with Lutheran World Federation /World Services, Rakai Community Based AIDS Project (RACOBAO) as Training Advisor. He worked with Global Orex International Investment SMC, as a Manager. He is a Country representative of Nsumbi Trust a UK based NGO that supports Education among the vulnerable people in Uganda. William has represented Uganda at several global fora and he is the Founder of Expo Heights Limited, a Company that promotes Renewable Energy systems, Social business among the vulnerable people in Uganda especially Women and Youth.

Hassan Selim holds Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication from the prestigious Helwan University, Cairo. He is a journalist of repute with almost decade of practice in active media services. He currently on the youth desk of Al-Akhbar Egyptian Newspaper and covers national and international youth issues specifically on youth empowerment, human rights and climate change. He is also responsible for covering the news of the Ministry of Higher Education and Universities correspondent. He is also an attaché with the Permanent Committee for Human Rights at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Meteorological Authority. He prepares weekly articles featuring youth related issues and at the Shabab Zone runs spotlight on influential young Egyptian in Egypt around the world. Mr. Shikamo has worked at different levels of the government health institutions. He is currently a District health promotion Officer of Kalumbila District health office in North Western Zambia. He is a vibrant and committed person towards youth work and holds Diploma in Registered Nursing from the Lusaka school of Nursing of Zambia

Vanessa Seth is a teacher by profession since 2010. She was the former History and Geography Head of Department, upon receiving her First Class Award, in Bachelor in Education in 2016, at the University of Botswana and the Registrar at the National Institute of Health and Social Sciences (Health and Social Work Post Secondary Institution). Vanessa is currently a student and attempting her master’s. Vanessa has an immense passion for youth development, empowerment thus aims to aspire the youngsters, especially young girls and women to be valuable citizens in society. However, she feels that boys need to be equally empowered in the social aspects. Her love for the betterment of Africa led her to travel, meet and network with other potential youth leaders with the agenda for a prosperous Africa. Her struggles and life experiences gave her a deep appreciation to improve the quality of life, one step at a time and give back to the wider community.
